The Rotary engine (also known as the Wankel) is one of the most interesting yet controversial engines ever. It uses the same concept as most internal combustion engines except it has no valves and no pistons. To most people that sounds crazy and you would be right it is a crazy idea and didn’t last in production very long. Regardless of that, it had a great run and a lot of people still tune/mod them to this day. This is a cutout of a Mazda 2 rotor as it spins showing you just how the engine operates. After a few seconds, you see just how similar it is to a typical piston engine!
